⑴ The S&P Global Eurozone Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) final reading for August rose to 52.7 from 51.9 in July, slightly below the preliminary figure of 52.8, but still the strongest since May 2022. Germany served as the main growth engine, with manufacturing expansion at its strongest in over four years. France also contributed positive growth, partially offset by contractions in Italy and Spain.⑵ Eurozone manufacturing output increased for the third consecutive month, with the fastest pace in four and a half years. Total new orders saw the strongest growth since early 2022, and renewed growth in export business supported improving demand. Supply disruptions persisted, leading to significantly longer delivery times. Employment remained broadly stable, ending a decline that lasted more than three years.⑶ Input cost pressures continued to ease, and business confidence strengthened for the fourth consecutive month.
