(1) The Malaysian rubber market closed mixed on Wednesday, with trends aligning with regional rubber futures markets. Traders stated that lower international oil prices and a stronger ringgit against the US dollar put pressure on prices. (2) However, downside was limited by signs of improving demand. Data show that the Services Purchasing Managers’ Index rose in August, with both new orders and employment increasing, reflecting a moderate recovery in domestic demand. (3) Analysts attributed the recent market correction mainly to sentiment-driven, weather-related technical adjustments rather than a deterioration in fundamentals, and downstream demand is expected to remain relatively resilient. (4) At the close, Standard Malaysian Rubber 20 grade slipped slightly to 954 sen per kilogram, while bulk latex rose to 688.50 sen per kilogram.
