Wall Street Journal reporter Nick Timiraos stated that Federal Reserve Governor Waller's overall stance has not fundamentally changed since July, but his policy inclination has shifted: from previous concerns and a tendency to tighten monetary policy, to a current cautious optimism and a preference to keep interest rates unchanged. The final decision will depend on the August inflation data. His response path for the September 15th-16th policy meeting is already quite clear: if inflation continues to move toward the 2% target, interest rates will remain unchanged; if the August inflation data is high, a rate hike will be considered.
