The Baltic Dry Bulk Freight Index continued its upward trend on Thursday, reaching a near five-year high, boosted by strong rates across all vessel types. The Baltic Dry Bulk Freight Index rose by 157 points, or 4.7%, to 3,488 points, marking its highest level since October 2021. The Capesize vessel freight index increased by 400 points, or 7.1%, to 6,042 points, reaching its highest level since the end of 2023; average daily earnings climbed by $3,632, reaching $51,298. The Panamax vessel freight index gained 28 points, or 1.2%, to 2,457 points, hitting its highest level since May 2026; average daily earnings increased by $248, to $22,113. The Supramax vessel freight index rose by 11 points, or 0.6%, to 1,668 points.
