Institution: The Federal Reserve may curb rate cut plans
Media reports indicate that with the recent surge in inflation data, economists are divided over how much of a signal for rate cuts in 2024 Federal Reserve officials will send at next week's policy meeting. Policymakers are likely to abandon their long-standing forecast of three rate cuts this year, but whether they will still opt for two rate cuts remains an unresolved question. A survey shows that 41% of economists expect the "dot plot" to show two rate cuts, while another 41% anticipate it will only display one cut or no cut at all.
