Fed rate expectations for August and September
The data showed that the probability of the Fed keeping interest rates unchanged in August was 91.2%, and the probability of a 25 basis point cut was 8.8%. By September, the probability of the Fed keeping rates unchanged dropped to 27.4%, the probability of a cumulative 25 basis point cut rose to 66.5%, and the probability of a cumulative 50 basis point cut was 6.1%.
