The U.S. Department of Justice seized $200,000 in cryptocurrency from Hamas's financing plan
The U.S. Department of Justice announced that it has cracked an ongoing terrorism financing scheme, seizing approximately $201,400 (calculated at current value) in cryptocurrency stored in wallets and accounts intended to fund Hamas. The seized funds came from fundraising addresses allegedly controlled by Hamas, which have been used for laundering over $1.5 million in virtual currency since October 2024.
