Galaxy completes $175 million first external fundraising for venture fund
Odaily Planet Daily reports that Galaxy has announced the completion of its first venture capital fund, raising a total of $175 million, surpassing the original target of $150 million. The fund will focus on investments in areas where traditional finance intersects with blockchain, such as stablecoins and decentralized finance. Galaxy has already deployed approximately $50 million into projects like Monad and Ethena.
It is reported that this is the first time Galaxy has accepted external capital, though the company remains the anchor investor in the fund with its own capital, serving as both a limited partner and holding general partner interests. As a company listed on Nasdaq since May, Galaxy’s new fund also offers retail investors a rare opportunity to participate in a crypto venture capital portfolio.
