Pony.ai and WeRide have obtained an important approval from Chinese securities authorities, allowing these autonomous driving technology firms to move forward with secondary listings on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Both companies, headquartered in Guangzhou, are already listed on the Nasdaq in the United States. WeRide began trading publicly in October 2024, with Pony.ai joining the market a month later.

At present, both Pony.ai and WeRide are preparing to offer shares on the Hong Kong Exchange, joining a growing number of Chinese firms seeking secondary listings.

According to regulatory documents filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, both companies announced that the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) has granted approval for their planned listings. The CSRC holds the ultimate authority over whether a company can list abroad.

It seems both firms are set to move ahead with their respective global offerings and listings. Reuters, citing unnamed sources, reported that WeRide has engaged Morgan Stanley and China International Capital Corp. to assist with a dual primary listing in Hong Kong, with the company aiming to complete the process by December.
