The American Truck Drivers Union sues UPS over new buyout planGlonghui, February 10th|The American Truck Drivers Union stated that it has filed a lawsuit against United Parcel Service (UPS), accusing the company of providing drivers with a new buyout plan that violates the national contract between the two parties. In January this year, UPS announced that it would lay off up to 30,000 employees and close 24 facilities, in order to gradually reduce millions of low-profit delivery services provided to its largest client, Amazon. The union stated that the scope of UPS's updated buyout plan is much broader than the plan offered to employees at the end of last summer. At that time, UPS announced the elimination of 20,000 jobs and the closure of 73 facilities. In documents filed in the District Court of Massachusetts, the union detailed at least six violations of the agreement.
