UK law enforcement to expand powers to seize crypto assets
UK law enforcement agencies have strengthened their ability to seize cryptocurrency assets in cases including cryptocurrency crimes, which is expected to come into effect on April 26th. Top legislation was approved this week following the passage of the Economic Crime and Corporate Borders Bill 2023, which gives law enforcement the power to seize and freeze cryptocurrencies used in crimes. Provisions coming into force include a citizen recovery regime for cryptocurrencies and a crypto asset forfeiture order allowing the country to confiscate cryptocurrency-related items, which are defined as "containing or granting access to information that may assist in the seizure of any crypto asset" at .......
