Source: Telegram founder could be detained for up to 96 hours at this stage

On August 26, the Guardian reported that French judicial authorities extended the detention of Pavel Durov, the Russian-born founder of Telegram, on Sunday after he was arrested at the Paris airport. According to sources close to the investigation, the investigating judge in charge of the case has extended Durov's detention until after Sunday night. The initial detention at this stage can be up to 96 hours. When this stage of detention ends, the judge can decide to release him, or continue to prosecute and extend detention. French investigators have issued an arrest warrant for Durov as part of an investigation into allegations of fraud, drug trafficking, organized crime, terrorist propaganda and cyberbullying.
