On April 23, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal, sources said that President Trump ultimately decided not to dismiss Powell, after warnings from U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent and Commerce Secretary Lutnick.

 

Previously, White House lawyers had begun exploring legal options for firing Powell.
