The US Department of Justice accused of illegally selling Bitcoin confiscated from Samourai Wallet developers
PANews, January 6 — According to Bitcoin Magazine, on November 3, 2025, the U.S. Department of Justice instructed the U.S. Marshals Service to sell 57.55 bitcoins, worth approximately $6.367 million, through a certain exchange as part of the plea agreement with the Samourai Wallet developers. This action may violate Executive Order No. 14233 signed by President Trump, which requires that bitcoins obtained by the government through criminal forfeiture be included in the "National Strategic Bitcoin Reserve" and not be sold. Currently, the balance of the related bitcoin address is zero, indicating that the assets may have already been liquidated.
