According to the latest data from the National Association of REALTORS®, sales of existing homes climbed by 5.1% in December. This comprehensive report offers valuable insights to real estate professionals, buyers, and sellers by detailing trends in sales volume, pricing, and available inventory.
All regions experienced an uptick in sales compared to the previous month. Looking at year-over-year figures, the South recorded growth, the Midwest and West remained steady, while the Northeast saw a decline.
Lawrence Yun, Chief Economist at NAR, commented, "2025 presented significant challenges for homebuyers, with home prices reaching new highs and sales activity hitting historic lows."
