Glonghui January 15th|Ben Horowitz, co-founder of the well-known venture capital firm a16z, stated that the debate over whether the "AI boom is a bubble" completely misses the point. AI is bigger than all previous technology waves, including the internet. Astonishingly high valuations shouldn't just be viewed on the surface; we must look at what is actually happening. He explained that one reason people worry about bubbles is because valuations are rising too quickly, but if you look at what's actually happening, such as customer adoption rates and revenue growth, we have never seen such strong demand. He described the current situation as "a bit like a brave new world." Horowitz does not agree that AI will ultimately be dominated by a few companies, repeating the highly centralized pattern of the internet era; on the contrary, he believes AI is creating an unprecedented space for development. He thinks this technological transformation process may be more chaotic, but its potential impact is also much greater. If we only interpret this wave of development as a "bubble," we may underestimate the depth and scale of this transformation. He pointed out that the key lies in how AI products are constructed. Truly valuable AI applications often need to deeply simulate human behavior for specific scenarios and build highly complex application layers, rather than relying on a single, all-powerful foundational model to handle everything. This also means that a lot of differentiated design and integration work cannot be directly replaced by foundational models.
