US Economic Growth in 2026 Expected to Surpass Analysts’ Predictions
Goldman Sachs Predicts Stronger US Economic Growth in 2026
Goldman Sachs Research anticipates that the US economy will outperform most economists’ expectations in the coming year. David Mericle, the firm’s chief US economist, highlights in a recent report that their most confident projections for 2026 include a GDP growth rate that surpasses the general consensus, along with a lower-than-expected inflation rate.
While the team expects the labor market to reach a point of stability, Mericle notes that there remains a significant risk of further weakening in employment conditions as 2026 approaches. According to their forecast, US GDP is set to grow by 2.5% year-over-year in the fourth quarter of 2026, outpacing the average economist prediction of 2.1%.
