ECB’s Kocher Confirms Interest Rates Are Meeting Inflation Goals
Martin Kocher, a member of the European Central Bank's Governing Council and head of the Austrian National Bank, stated on Monday that the eurozone's monetary policy is effectively reaching its inflation targets. Speaking during a Q&A session after delivering a lecture at the London School of Economics, Kocher remarked, "It's evident that our interest rate decisions are producing the desired results; there's no need for further explanation."
He also expressed satisfaction with the ECB's overall framework, emphasizing the institution's well-defined responsibilities. However, Kocher acknowledged that while monetary policy is effective, it cannot address every economic challenge facing the region.
