Wheat Loses Friday’s Advances on Monday

Wheat Markets Experience Declines

All three major wheat markets faced downward pressure on Monday. Chicago SRW futures ended the day 6 to 7 cents lower for the nearest contracts. Kansas City HRW futures dropped by 10 to 11 cents in the front months, while Minneapolis spring wheat futures slipped by 5 to 6 cents.

Export Activity Update

The Export Inspections report released Monday morning indicated that 351,001 metric tons (12.9 million bushels) of wheat were shipped during the week of January 22. This figure represents an 11.76% decrease from the previous week and is 27.56% below the same week last year. South Korea was the top destination, receiving 119,036 MT, followed by Japan with 73,230 MT and Mexico with 63,773 MT. So far this marketing year, total wheat shipments have reached 16.33 million metric tons (600.05 million bushels), which is 18.21% higher than the same period a year ago.

USDA Export Sales Insights

According to Friday's USDA Export Sales report, wheat commitments as of January 15 totaled 21.03 million metric tons, marking an 18% increase over last year. This figure represents 86% of the USDA's annual projection, closely aligning with the typical 87% pace for this time of year.
