Amazon eliminates 16,000 positions worldwide as part of extensive reorganization
Amazon Announces 16,000 Global Job Cuts
On January 28, Amazon revealed plans to eliminate 16,000 positions worldwide, marking its second significant wave of layoffs within three months. This move comes as the company reorganizes to address the surplus hiring that occurred during the pandemic and to further integrate artificial intelligence technologies into its operations.
According to a recent Reuters report, these latest layoffs are part of Amazon's broader initiative to reduce approximately 30,000 corporate jobs. The affected roles are expected to span across divisions such as Amazon Web Services, retail, Prime Video, and human resources.
