Ethereum researchers propose FOCIL as the core anti-censorship feature for the Hegota upgrade.

According to a report by Bijie Network: Ethereum researchers are advancing the "Fork-Choice Enforced Inclusion List" (FOCIL or EIP-7805) proposal, positioning it as a core feature of the upcoming Hegota upgrade. FOCIL, designed by Ethereum Foundation researcher Thomas Thiery, aims to provide protocol-level guarantees to ensure that valid transactions are included on-chain within a specified timeframe, thereby reducing reliance on off-chain market dynamics and preventing censorship. This mechanism addresses centralization issues in the builder market by allowing multiple validators to enforce transaction inclusion using fork-choice rules. Although this increases some protocol complexity and currently does not include blob transactions, supporters believe it is crucial for the network's long-term resilience against potential large-scale censorship events.
