How European right-wing parties could weaponize cryptocurrency after Trump’s election
Show original
According to a report by Bijie Network: Following Donald Trump's move to make cryptocurrency a core campaign issue, right-wing parties across Europe are increasingly adopting pro-crypto platforms to attract a growing voter base. In the UK, the Reform Party led by Nigel Farage now accepts cryptocurrency donations and has proposed a bill to cap capital gains tax on digital assets at 10%. In France, Marine Le Pen of the National Rally has shifted her stance from advocating a bitcoin ban to proposing the use of nuclear energy for bitcoin mining. Sławomir Mentzen, chairman of Poland's New Hope party, is a bitcoin holder who has pledged to establish a national bitcoin reserve during his campaign. This political shift coincides with the rising trend of cryptocurrency ownership; reports indicate that crypto ownership in France has reached 12%, while in Poland it is as high as 19%. This mirrors strategies that have proven profitable and effective in the US political arena.
