Tesla is reportedly still advancing CarPlay development
At the end of last year, there were widespread rumors in the market that Tesla would equip its vehicles with the Apple CarPlay in-car interactive system. After weeks of heated speculation, the rumors gradually faded, and the public once believed that Tesla’s plan had fallen through.
However, there has been a turn of events. The latest news indicates that Tesla's software team is still working on developing the system, and CarPlay is likely to eventually become available in Tesla models.
In November last year, there were reports that Tesla was testing Apple CarPlay in its models. It’s important to note that Tesla has always insisted on developing its own interactive interface and refused to use external systems, so this news was undoubtedly a significant breakthrough at the time.
According to a study by McKinsey & Company, nearly one-third of car buyers consider the absence of CarPlay as a dealbreaker—if a vehicle doesn’t offer this feature, they won’t consider purchasing it. This may be the key reason why Tesla cannot abandon CarPlay development, especially since last year, Tesla lost a core consumer attraction: the $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles.
Although there has been little news about Tesla’s CarPlay development since the November rumors, sources say the company is still working on this interactive interface. Renowned tech journalist Mark Gurman stated that Tesla’s CarPlay development is ongoing, and specific progress will be announced “soon.”
