Employee of a Hong Kong cryptocurrency investment company arrested for stealing over HK$20 million in USDT from clients
PANews reported on February 24, citing Sing Tao Daily, that an investment company in Hong Kong providing a cryptocurrency settlement platform has had around 20 clients report the loss of 2.67 million USDT, with total losses amounting to approximately HK$20.87 million. After launching an investigation, the police yesterday arrested a 34-year-old network engineer surnamed Choi from the company. The individual is suspected of using his position to access the company database without authorization, obtaining client account information, and allegedly stealing crypto assets. The case is now being handled by Team 9 of the Criminal Investigation Division of the Yau Tsim Police District in Hong Kong, and several officers have already visited the company to collect evidence.
