Shenyu: What AI truly disrupts is not individual skills, but corporate organizational structures
BlockBeats news, on February 27, Cobo co-founder and CEO Shenyu posted on social media, stating, "The essence of business management over the past 200 years has been to make people function as cogs around SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). Now, with the arrival of AI Agents, if we still try to fit AI into old processes as mere assistants, failure is inevitable. What AI truly disrupts is not skills, but organizational structure."
The larger the enterprise, the more complex the SOPs, because SOPs are essentially 'algorithms written for humans to execute.' To prevent mistakes and avoid liability, large companies keep patching their SOPs, creating a rigid and massive web. Forcibly inserting Agents with autonomous planning capabilities will only lead to internal computational waste. The way to break the deadlock is to dismantle SOPs and have people work around Agent workflows: processes are restructured into 'intent and guardrails,' with humans setting goals and boundaries, and Agents autonomously optimizing; employee roles become 'shepherds,' only needing to orchestrate rules, handle exceptions, and make value judgments.
Organizational structures will also be reshaped, departmental barriers will collapse, cross-departmental collaboration will become millisecond-level API calls, and the value of middle-management supervisory positions will drop significantly. The previous generation of ERP/OA/SaaS digitized SOPs, while the next generation of great enterprises will establish an Agent framework based on 'intent, dynamic flow, and human fallback,' rewriting the 21st-century Principles of Scientific Management."
According to today's report, Block, the Bitcoin payment company founded by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, is laying off 4,000 employees, nearly half of its workforce, as the company bets on artificial intelligence to change future labor productivity.
