Costco Expands with New Store Openings This Spring

Costco's signature $1.50 hot dogs and rotisserie chickens will soon be available in even more cities, as the popular warehouse retailer prepares to launch several new stores throughout March and April.

Shoppers in Texas, Utah, and California can look forward to new locations, while Costco is also set to open a store in Manitoba, Canada. The wholesale giant, which began as Price Club in 1976, first operated out of a repurposed airplane hangar in San Diego.

Costco notes that Price Club evolved from serving small businesses to becoming a full-scale warehouse retailer as the warehouse club industry rapidly expanded. The inaugural Costco warehouse opened its doors in Seattle in 1983.

In its most recent financial report released in early February, Costco announced it now operates 924 warehouses worldwide, including 634 in the United States and Puerto Rico, as well as additional locations in countries such as Mexico and Japan.

Upcoming Costco Store Openings

According to the retailer’s Coming Soon page, six new stores are scheduled to open in the coming months:

• Liberty Hill, Texas – Opening March 11
• Forney, Texas – Opening March 12
• St. George, Utah – Opening March 13
• North Visalia, California – Opening date to be determined
• New Braunfels, Texas – Opening date to be determined
• Winnipeg, Manitoba – Opening date to be determined

These additions follow a busy 2025, when Costco launched several new stores in locations such as The Villages, Florida; Richland, Washington; and North Guadalajara, Mexico.
