Household Spending Trends in January 2026
During January 2026, household expenditure experienced a modest rise of 0.3% compared to the previous month, after adjusting for seasonal factors and current prices. When compared to January 2025, spending was up by 4.6%.
- Five out of nine spending categories saw growth.
- The most significant increases were observed in:
- Miscellaneous goods and services (+2.5%)
- Health (+1.7%)
- Transport (+0.3%)
However, spending on goods declined by 0.3% from the previous month, mainly due to reduced purchases of vehicles, recreational and cultural goods, and motoring-related products.
