United Airlines (UAL) recently announced its fleet upgrade strategy, stating that it will complete the replacement of all active aircraft at its Guam base by the end of 2026.

According to the plan, the Boeing 737 Max 8 will become the new generation main aircraft at this base, gradually replacing the older models currently in service. This fleet renewal plan will significantly improve the operational efficiency and passenger experience on the Guam routes. As a new generation narrow-body airliner, the Boeing 737 Max 8 offers about 20% better fuel efficiency compared to previous models, along with enhanced range capabilities and cabin comfort. Fleet standardization will also reduce maintenance costs and strengthen the airline's competitive advantage on Pacific routes. Guam, as an important hub for United Airlines in the Asia-Pacific region, will see its fleet transformation support the strategic expansion of its trans-Pacific route network. With the new aircraft entering service, the airline is expected to further increase the frequency of flights between Guam and major cities in East Asia and Southeast Asia.
