Jinse Finance reported that on March 26, the U.S. House Financial Services Committee held a hearing on securities tokenization. Republican congressman Andy Barr stated that securities tokenization is "undoubtedly coming" and that regulatory modernization is imperative. The SEC has previously approved DTCC to tokenize highly liquid assets on designated blockchains and recently approved Nasdaq to support tokenized stock trading. SEC Chairman Paul Atkins said that public comments will be sought on an innovation exemption program to establish a regulatory sandbox for on-chain assets. Some Democratic congressmen expressed concerns about the exemption program, believing that it could result in a two-tiered market.
