Gelonghui April 15|As of March 30, 2026, the total market capitalization of the S&P 500 Index reached $57.62 trillion. The top 10 companies by market capitalization account for over 36% of the total, slightly down from 41% in 2025, but still significantly higher than 23% in 2000.
By sector, the information sector holds the highest weighting at 31.3%. Within this sector, Nvidia has a weighting of 7.0%, even surpassing the entire weighting of industries such as energy or utilities. Apple and Microsoft follow closely behind, with weightings of 6.3% and 4.6%, respectively.
Additionally, the weightings of financials, communication services, and consumer discretionary sectors each exceed 10%. Berkshire Hathaway is the only financial company among the top ten by market capitalization; its ranking has fallen from sixth place in 2023 to tenth place.
