Kite mainnet officially launches, introducing a Payments Layer for the Agent economy

BlockBeats news, on April 30, the payment infrastructure Kite, designed for the AI Agent economy, officially launched its mainnet. During the launch phase, network fees will be covered by the Kite Treasury, so users do not need to be aware of gas fees.

Together with the mainnet, the Kite Agent Passport is now publicly available. It serves as the authorization and payment control layer for Agents. Users can sign a single passkey session with defined control boundaries (including per-transaction limits, total budget, validity period, allowed assets, and payment methods). Within these constraints, Agents can autonomously execute tasks without requiring users to share their bank account, credit card, or private key. All actions are recorded in a unified activity log for real-time auditing.

Kite adopts a "three-layer integrated" architecture: the foundational settlement layer is an EVM-compatible L1, supporting native stablecoin settlement, targeting high-frequency, low-value, Agent-driven payment scenarios; the middle core Agent service layer is supported by Passport for identity, delegation, and risk control; the upper Agent interface layer allows direct integration of mainstream Agent runtimes.

On the application level, online shopping use cases are already live, and paid API calls are settled via the x402 protocol. The Kite team made it clear they are not chasing TVL and will publicly measure progress using three metrics: total transaction count, monthly active Passport count, and total settled amount.

Currently, users can register accounts on agentpassport.ai, set up Agents, and initiate delegated authorizations with defined boundaries. The initial batch already supports scenarios such as Agents autonomously completing online shopping, paid API calls, and multi-step cross-service tasks.
