Travala, a cryptocurrency-focused travel booking platform, announced the launch of a protocol that combines autonomous artificial intelligence with efficient digital payments. The proposal allows software agents to handle the entire process of searching, booking, and paying for accommodations, reducing the need for human interaction up to the final authorization stage.
Called Travala Travel MCP, the system was developed to operate in an AI-driven environment. The solution runs on the Base network, a second-layer blockchain, and uses the x402 payment standard to enable direct USDC transfers between applications, APIs, and digital agents.
According to the company, the main advantage lies in eliminating traditional checkout steps. This allows transactions to occur almost instantly, with an average cost of approximately US$0,01 per booking. Furthermore, using Base's infrastructure enables payments without gas fees, making the process more efficient for users and developers.
Technology also supports an AI-powered travel concierge capable of organizing complete itineraries in a single conversation. This assistant maintains the context of interactions, including searches, bookings, and even cancellations, offering a seamless user experience.
To ensure security, the protocol uses ERC-7715 session keys. This mechanism allows agents to initiate payment requests, while final authorization remains protected within the user's wallet. The proposal seeks to balance automation and control, reducing operational risks.
Another relevant component is the ERC-8004 standard, which adds a verifiable layer for monitoring operational performance. This facilitates automated audits and improves transparency in the operation of AI agents.
Travala also indicated that it intends to expand the protocol to other segments, including airline tickets. Meanwhile, the AVA token continues to be used within the platform's loyalty program.
As an incentive for adoption, developers who integrate agents into the system may receive a 10% discount in cbBTC. Founded in 2017 and backed by Binance, the company claims to have over 2,2 million properties available in 230 countries, and accepts a wide variety of cryptocurrencies and traditional payment methods.
