Syscoin releases bridge security incident report, funds destroyed after recovery, and will fix cross-layer parsing vulnerability
According to ChainCatcher, Syscoin has released a bridge security incident report disclosing details of a vulnerability in the UTXO-to-NEVM bridge. Reportedly, this incident resulted in approximately 5 billion SYS being unauthorizedly released on the UTXO side. The related funds have since been returned to the official recovery address and destroyed via the standard OP_RETURN method, making them unusable by the protocol again. The on-chain reported SYS supply has been restored to the expected value. Currently, the bridge function remains suspended while the team completes the final review and repairs.
