Institution: The Federal Reserve faces increased pressure to raise interest rates
Odaily reported that Anthony Willis, Senior Economist at Tianli Investment, stated in a report that, as US inflation remains significantly above target and both the economy and labor market show resilience, there is increased pressure on Federal Reserve policymakers to tighten policy. Willis said: "However, until the impact of inflation becomes clearer, policymakers may be willing to temporarily ignore the effects of the recent surge in oil prices."
Nonetheless, the broader direction is evident: under Walsh's leadership, the Federal Reserve is adopting a more hawkish stance. Markets currently predict a 38% chance of a Fed rate hike on Wednesday, and have fully priced in the possibility of a September hike. (Golden Ten Data)
