Silent Whale lay in ambush for two Samsung and Micron earnings reports, with over 2 million single-chip orders unfulfilled
BlockBeats News, July 30th, according to Hyperinsight monitoring, an address starting with 0x55b has been mostly quiet since June 26th, until shortly before the financial reports of two major Korean storage manufacturers.
On July 29th, this address started buying SKHX before SK Hynix's earnings report and continued to accumulate holdings until after the report was released, with a total additional investment of approximately $832,000; on the same day, it also bought about $509,000 worth of SMSN before Samsung's official earnings announcement. The total additional investment for these two purchases was about $1.341 million, both significantly timed around the earnings report release.
However, despite the rebound in the stock prices after both earnings reports, this long position has not yet realized any actual gains.
As of the time of writing, the address holds approximately $1.247 million worth of long positions in Samsung Electronics, with an unrealized gain of about $6,030; at the same time, it holds about $970,000 worth of long positions in SK Hynix, with an unrealized loss of about $6,460. The total position for these two holdings is around $2.217 million, with a net unrealized loss of about $4,300.
The earnings from the Samsung position have been mostly offset by the losses in the Hynix position. As the prices retreated from their intraday highs, the address fell back into losses after a brief period of profitability; currently, there are no visible take-profit or stop-loss orders set for these two positions.
