Polymarket will update the settlement mechanism for cryptocurrency rise and fall markets on August 7, adopting settlement based on time-weighted average price.
Foresight News reports that Polymarket Developers announced plans to update the settlement method for relevant markets to protect the fairness of cryptocurrency price movement markets. Starting from 8:00 on August 7, affected markets will no longer settle based on single-time snapshot prices, but will instead use Time-Weighted Average Price (TWAP) for settlement. The averaging window will be adjusted according to the market cycle length, with 30-second TWAP used for 5-minute markets and 60-second TWAP for both 15-minute and 4-hour markets.
To support liquidity during the transition period, Polymarket will add a $1 million liquidity reward to all affected markets within August. In addition, Chainlink TWAP testnet data is now available. Mainnet data and Polymarket real-time data stream services are scheduled to go live on August 4, 2026, enabling developers to obtain TWAP prices via Chainlink data streams or Polymarket public real-time data stream WebSocket.
