Wintermute: Institutional funds now account for 72% of its OTC spot trading volume, reaching a record high
Foresight News reported that market maker Wintermute stated in a post that 72% of spot trading volume completed through its OTC (over-the-counter) platform now comes from institutional investors, marking a record high. These institutions include hedge funds, digital asset management companies (DATs), asset management firms, and family offices.
According to Wintermute, this percentage has continued to rise compared to 59% in the first half of 2025 and 61% in the second half of 2025. Wintermute said that with institutional funds now accounting for three quarters of its trading volume, institutional flow has become the dominant force shaping the current market structure.
