Expert to XRP Investors: Now Is the Time to Pay Attention. Here’s why
Every midterm election year since 2014 has delivered the same result for XRP in August. The token posted losses in August 2014, August 2018, and August 2022. Analyst ChartNerd flagged this pattern and asked the obvious question on X: does August 2026 break the streak or extend it?
The Numbers Behind the Pattern
ChartNerd laid out the figures directly. August 2014 closed at -5.7%. August 2018 closed at -23.0%. August 2022 closed at -13.7%. The average decline across these three midterm Augusts sits at 14%. ChartNerd summarized the trend in five words: “The Data Never Lies.”
The accompanying chart traces XRP’s price action back to 2014 and marks each of these bottoms directly on the timeline. The June 2014 bottom preceded a 936.13% rally.
The August 2018 low came before a 210.67% move higher. The June 2022 bottom led to a 96.23% gain. Each low sits at a different price scale, but the pattern of a summer bottom followed by a sustained rally repeats three times in a row.
Why June Through August Matters
ChartNerd’s second post explains the mechanics behind this seasonal window. June tends to underperform during bear markets. July typically brings relief.
August carries the heaviest weight in this pattern. ChartNerd described it as holding “the longest consecutive active losing streak of any calendar month in history” for XRP, with every midterm-year August producing a negative return.
This isn’t a one-off observation. ChartNerd tied the pattern to broader midterm-year behavior, noting that the drawdown percentages and midterm confluence were shared in a connected post. The message is that this window deserves attention now, not after the fact.
What Comes Next
ChartNerd’s tweet sets clear expectations for the coming weeks. If XRP closes August on a bearish note, ChartNerd told followers not to be discouraged.
In the post, ChartNerd called a bearish close “a common theme” that “represents further opportunity.” The current chart shows XRP trading at $1.06993, down from a 2025 high above $3.20, and now within the same June-August window that historically marks a bottom.
ChartNerd closed the post with a reminder to pay attention now, calling this “the time” to watch price action closely.
