CANADA FX DEBT - Canadian dollar strengthens, benchmark yield slips
Reuters2026/08/12 13:00The Canadian dollar strengthened against the greenback on Wednesday, and the yield on benchmark government debt slipped.
The loonie CAD= was trading 0.1% higher at C$1.391 to the greenback, or 71.89 U.S. cents, after trading in a range of 1.3912 to 1.3937.
Canadian government 10-year bond yields CA10YT=RR fell 3.4 basis points to 3.675%. The yield on similar U.S. government benchmark debt fell to 4.6557%.
U.S. September crude CLc1 futures fell 21 cents to $82.99 a barrel on Wednesday.
The value of building permits in Canada rose 18.5% in June, Statistics Canada said.
