(1) Analysts point out that accurately estimating shipping volumes through the Strait of Hormuz is becoming increasingly difficult due to more vessels disabling their trackers and ship-to-ship transfers concealing the actual amount of crude oil being transported. (2) Currently, shipping volumes in the strait remain at sluggish levels. Although Iran and Oman are holding negotiations on the strait, there are so far no signs of any agreements being reached. (3) The number of ships passing through the strait daily ranges from two or three to around ten, and not all are oil tankers. Due to the occasional drone attacks launched by Iran, many ship owners are still unwilling to take the risk of using this waterway.
