US-Iran conflict triggers volatility, driving European natural gas prices higher

(1) Due to the latest round of conflict between the US and Iran, the Dutch TTF natural gas benchmark contract saw an increase on Monday. The market sees little possibility of liquefied natural gas shipments resuming via the Strait of Hormuz before the arrival of winter in the Northern Hemisphere. (2) According to Intercontinental Exchange market data, the near-month contract at the Dutch TTF hub rose by 2.38 euros, reaching 68.95 euros per megawatt hour. (3) Analysts from institutions pointed out that the escalation of this round of conflict has deepened concerns about the ongoing confrontation between the US and Iran. The risks of disruptions to energy flows and liquefied natural gas supply in the Gulf region are drawing significant attention from the market.
