Crypto Project's Annual Token Buyback Reaches $638 Million, with Hyperliquid and Pump.fun Accounting for Nearly 90%
BlockBeats News, August 31, 2026: From January 1 to August 31, 2026, cryptocurrency projects have cumulatively spent approximately $638 million on token buybacks, a 17% increase from the same period in 2025. Nearly 90% of the buyback amount came from Hyperliquid and Pump.fun.
Hyperliquid directs 99% of eligible transaction fees to the Assistance Fund for automatic token buyback and burn. Since its launch at the end of 2024, approximately $1.3 billion worth of HYPE has been bought back and burned.
Pump.fun allocates 50% of Launchpad and PumpSwap revenues to buy back and burn PUMP. As of early August, this buyback program has offset around 15.7% of the initial token supply.
Furthermore, the Sky Ecosystem has repurchased approximately $26 million worth of SKY tokens this year.
