UiPath (PATH.US) Q2 revenue exceeds expectations and raises full-year guidance, but stock price swings sharply and turns lower after hours: Investors focus on ARR growth and AI monetization pathway
After the close of trading on September 3rd, Eastern Time, enterprise automation software company UiPath released its financial report for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027.
According to Zhitong Finance APP, after-hours on September 3, Eastern Time, enterprise automation software company UiPath (PATH.US) released its financial report for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027. Despite revenues exceeding expectations and an upward revision of full-year guidance, UiPath's stock price experienced sharp volatility in after-hours trading: This trend suggests that investors’ focus has clearly shifted beyond simply a quarterly revenue beat towards ARR growth momentum, AI monetization, and the company's overall growth outlook.
The financial report shows that for the quarter ending July 31, 2026, UiPath achieved revenue of $410.26 million, an increase of 13% compared to approximately $363 million in the same period last year. This figure surpassed the market consensus estimate of $397.77 million. The company stated that revenue growth was primarily driven by stable demand and a weakening headwind from foreign exchange rates.
Adjusted earnings per share were $0.15, exactly in line with analysts’ expectations of $0.15. On a GAAP basis, the company achieved operating profit of $32 million and reported its fourth consecutive quarter of GAAP profitability.
In terms of Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR), UiPath reported ARR of $1.938 billion, up 12% year-over-year. Net new ARR improved from $31 million in the previous quarter to $37 million this quarter. Although the absolute value of net new ARR remains relatively low, management emphasized that trends in this metric are “stably trending upwards.”
Regarding customer structure, UiPath said its client base is increasingly concentrated towards large accounts. The number of customers with ARR of $100,000 or more increased by 10% year-over-year to 2,666; the number of large customers with ARR of $1 million or more grew by 21% to 387. The company added that customer churn was mainly concentrated in the smaller customer cohort.
Looking ahead, UiPath raised its full-year guidance, estimating revenue of between $1.789 billion and $1.794 billion, higher than the previous range of about $1.776 billion to $1.781 billion, and also ahead of the market expectation of approximately $1.78 billion. Non-GAAP operating profit is expected to be around $445 million; adjusted free cash flow about $425 million; gross margin approximately 84%. Additionally, the company expects full-year ARR to reach $2.065-$2.07 billion, higher than the previous forecast of approximately $2.06 billion. Management stated that the company is on track to surpass the $2 billion ARR milestone within fiscal 2027.
For the third quarter of fiscal 2027, the company expects revenue in the range of $440-$445 million, above analysts’ estimate of approximately $441.8 million; non-GAAP operating profit of around $100 million; and ARR projected between $1.992-$1.997 billion.
A series of executive changes was announced alongside the financial report. Hitesh Ramani was formally promoted to Chief Financial Officer, having already played a key role on the finance team. Ashim Gupta will continue as Chief Operating Officer. Brad Brubaker was appointed as Chief Legal and Administrative Officer with expanded responsibilities. In addition, Kaiser Permanente executive Yazdi Bagli joined UiPath's board of directors.
On the earnings call, Ramani stated that the company’s platform strategy is gaining traction with customers, and the outlook incorporates this assessment. He emphasized that the company is “guiding based on what we actually see” and maintains a prudent outlook. Gupta added that the company’s overall business execution is improving, net retention rates are “stably trending upwards,” and demand for a broader platform combining probabilistic and deterministic automation is strengthening.
AI Becomes the Core Driver for Major Deals
UiPath emphasized the deep penetration of AI in its business during the financial report. CEO Daniel Dines noted that 18 of the top 20 deals this quarter involved AI, highlighting AI’s central role in significant customer collaborations.
He explained, “Use AI where intelligent value creation is needed; use deterministic automation where precision is critical.” This strategy aims to help customers achieve higher scaled returns on investment while maintaining process control.
Dines further pointed out that UiPath is repositioning itself as a business orchestration platform, not just a task automation tool. The company is capable of integrating AI agents, robots, systems, and people to execute complex business processes end-to-end. This positioning is gaining recognition among large enterprise customers in financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and the public sector.
On the product side, Dines disclosed that coding agents are reducing implementation workloads by nearly 60%, which is expected to significantly shorten customer time-to-value and lower total cost of ownership. Analysts on the call focused on whether AI is changing the sales model. Dines stated that the company is shifting toward more use-case-based selling and is working to guide customers on when to use AI and when to rely on deterministic automation. He said customers want to keep workflows under their own control, while AI operates within the enterprise framework.
On pricing, UiPath is exploring transaction-based and outcome-based pricing models for agent products, indicating the company is still refining its monetization approach for new AI products. This suggests that although AI-related revenue is growing rapidly, a fully standardized pricing system has yet to emerge and market validation of AI monetization capability will take time.
Following the financial report release, the stock climbed more than 13% due to revenue beats and upward guidance revisions. However, the gains could not be sustained. As investors further digested details—especially ARR growth, the absolute scale of net new ARR, and progress in AI monetization—market sentiment quickly turned cautious. The stock reversed all gains and turned negative. As of press time, the share price is down about 8%.
In the past 12 months, UiPath has risen nearly 70%, but gains since early 2026 have been just around 12%, reflecting ongoing market worries over the impact of AI on software companies’ revenue models. Although UiPath has consistently emphasized that AI will boost demand for its robotic process automation technology, amid rapid advances in generative AI and agents, investors remain skeptical about the long-term competitiveness of traditional RPA vendors.
UiPath plans to host an Investor Day event in Las Vegas on September 22, followed by the FUSION user conference from September 23 to 25. The market is expected to gain more details on the company’s long-term strategy, AI product roadmap, and financial targets at that time.
