Ireland's current account surplus in the second quarter reaches €19.7 billions, driven by improvements in service trade and investment income

⑴ Ireland's current account surplus for the second quarter of 2026 was €19.7 billion, higher than the previous quarter's €14.0 billion, as the narrowing goods trade surplus was offset by an increase in service imports. ⑵ Goods exports amounted to €105.59 billion, an increase of €16.602 billion compared to the same period in 2025, and goods imports were €47.526 billion, an increase of €7.132 billion. ⑶ Service exports increased by €9.67 billion to €136.858 billion, mainly driven by growth in computer service exports. Service imports reached €133.083 billion, up by €18.446 billion, primarily due to higher royalty imports. ⑷ Overseas investment income increased by €2.219 billion to €80.143 billion, while investment income paid to foreign investors was €121.003 billion, down by €2.94 billion. ⑸ The overall income balance for the quarter was -€42.15 billion, an improvement of €5.022 billion compared to the same period in 2025.
