MediaTek's Newest Smartphone Chips Using Latest Taiwan Semiconductor Technology

05:16 AM EDT, 09/15/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing's (TSM) latest manufacturing technology is being used by Taiwan's MediaTek in its new AI-capable smartphone chip, MediaTek said Tuesday. The Dimensity 9600 Pro is Taiwan-listed MediaTek's first mobile processor built using Taiwan Semiconductor's 2-nanometer process, the company said. MediaTek said the chip can use up to 61% less power during multitasking and includes two dedicated AI processors for running advanced AI features directly on smartphones. MediaTek also launched the Dimensity 9600M, which is made using Taiwan Semiconductor's 3-nanometer production process, it said. MediaTek said the first smartphones powered by the Dimensity 9600 Pro and Dimensity 9600M are expected to launch in Q3.
