Bitcoin tops $81,000 as market cap hits $2.78 trillion, altcoins soar

The cryptocurrency market experienced a notable rally today, with Bitcoin surpassing $81,000 and major altcoins such as Ethena (ENA), Injective (INJ), and VeChain (VET) posting significant double-digit gains. The total market capitalization of digital assets increased by 4% over the past 24 hours, reaching $2.78 trillion.

Bitcoin leads as safe-haven demand rises

Bitcoin’s sharp rise above the key resistance of $80,000 has been a major factor driving the current market rally. Analysts cite its status as a safe-haven during the ongoing surge in US public debt, which has climbed to $40 trillion and continues to grow, as a catalyst for increased investor interest.

Supporting its reputation as a digital alternative to gold, Bitcoin maintains a hard cap of 21 million coins and has avoided security breaches for 17 years since its inception. Investors have increasingly turned to it for perceived stability as traditional financial risks mount.

Market sentiment has also mirrored this bullish outlook. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index remains entrenched in the greed zone with a reading of 73, its longest streak above this level in 2026. Historically, extended periods in this range have corresponded with investors aggressively allocating to digital assets.

Trading volumes reflect this enthusiasm, with 24-hour turnover rising 17.8% to over $104.9 billion. This increased activity suggests strong demand not only for Bitcoin but for the broader altcoin segment as well.

Technical indicators have contributed to the positive sentiment. Bitcoin has recently formed a bullish flag and a golden cross pattern, which, according to multiple chart analysts, signal the likelihood of continued upward momentum. Prominent cryptocurrencies including Ethereum (ETH), XRP, and Solana (SOL) have displayed similar technical formations.

Investors point to Bitcoin’s robust fundamentals—such as its fixed supply and security record—as key drivers of its safe-haven appeal amid rising US debt, fueling the ongoing rally across the market.

Altcoins rally as technicals confirm bullish trends

Alongside Bitcoin, several altcoins have outperformed following strong technical signals. Ethena (ENA) recently broke above a crucial resistance at $0.1908 after a retreat to $0.1350 in August. Momentum indicators and positioning above all major moving averages underscore a bullish structure, with traders targeting the $0.2500 psychological level as the next upside goal.

Injective (INJ) saw a notable boost after 21Shares submitted an application for a spot INJ ETF and community members voted to expand its financial sector involvement. Chart watchers identified a bullish cup-and-handle pattern, and INJ’s price remains above significant moving averages. If current momentum persists, INJ could retest the upper boundary of this breakout near $7.3167.

VeChain (VET) continues its upward trajectory. The token remains above its 50-day moving average, considered a robust support, and has climbed past the $0.0083 resistance—its September 10 peak. With this breakout, bulls now focus on the psychologically significant $0.01 level as the next target.

In an environment where a single central bank announcement or a surprise altcoin listing can rapidly shift market dynamics, traders increasingly seek efficiency. Relying on multiple platforms for charting, news, and portfolio updates can cost investors both time and money. Many are now consolidating their trading activities using privacy-first apps like CryptoAppsy, offering real-time charts, customizable price s, coin-specific news, and key macroeconomic indicators—all easily accessible on a single screen without the need for account registration.

With altcoin technicals pointing to further gains, traders remain to new developments that could rapidly impact $BTC and the broader crypto space.

Multiple Factors Weigh In, Intensifying U.S. Treasury Sell-Off! 5-Year Yield Breaks 5% for the First Time Since 2007, 10-Year Yield Surpasses 5.1%

The stronger-than-expected U.S. September PMI, international crude oil prices returning above $100, and Fed governors signaling possible rate hikes have all negatively impacted the bond market. The disappointing 5-year Treasury auction has further worsened market sentiment. The psychological barrier of a 5% yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury is losing its significance as a "ceiling," with the market now starting to discuss a potential 6%. In addition to rate hike expectations, fiscal and supply pressures are also driving up long-term bond yields.

According to reports, the Trump administration considered a 90-day diesel export ban, but this was later denied, with the US Secretary of Energy openly opposing it.

On Wednesday, according to Politico, the Trump administration was preparing a 90-day ban on diesel exports. Shortly after, Reuters reported that the United States was not preparing to implement such a ban. On the same day, the U.S. Secretary of Energy stated that banning diesel exports would "definitely not work," as it would force refineries to cut production, thereby driving up gasoline and jet fuel prices. After Politico's report, U.S. diesel futures fell by more than 7% before rebounding slightly, but the losses were not fully recovered.
