China’s gold imports exceeded 1,000 tons by August, surpassing the total for all of 2025.
According to ChainCatcher, Bloomberg reported on September 22 that China's gold imports are at a record high this year, driven by falling international gold prices and a stronger renminbi. Customs data shows that as of August, the purchase volume has exceeded 1,000 tons, surpassing the total for the entire year of 2025, with relevant customs data traceable back to 2017.
Jinrui Futures analyst Wu Zijie stated that strong investment demand has kept domestic gold prices at a slight premium relative to the international benchmark, thereby attracting imports.
