After U.S. Treasury yields declined overnight, Japan’s government bond yield curve also moved lower across the board. On Thursday, U.S. Treasury yields fell due to a steady long-term bond auction and a buyback operation conducted by the Treasury Department. Cooling expectations for further interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve have also put downward pressure on both U.S. and Japanese bond yields. Investors are currently watching the latest developments in the Iran conflict and movements in the French government bond market. During the session, the yield on Japan's 10-year government bond dropped by 4.5 basis points to 3.035%; the 2-year bond yield fell by 1.5 basis points to 1.915%; and the 30-year bond yield declined by 4 basis points to 4.080%.

In September, Russian retail funds flowed into the bond market, and stock purchases fell to the lowest level this year.

According to data from the Central Bank of Russia, in September, retail investments in Russian corporate bonds increased by approximately 158 billion rubles, with asset-backed securities accounting for nearly half of this amount. That month, the issuance scale of such securities reached a record high of about 479 billion rubles. Retail investors also continued allocating funds to money market exchange-traded funds. In contrast, stock purchases fell to their lowest level since January 2026. In the Russian market in September, stocks of oil and gas enterprises and IT companies were the most profitable. Over a 12-month period, corporate bonds, money market instruments, and ruble deposits generated the highest total returns. The focus going forward is whether the trend of retail funds favoring fixed income and money market instruments will continue, and if the sluggish stock buying will see a turnaround.
